Preparing for the Fourth Trimester is an in-person education workshop designed for women and their families with time-tested postpartum wisdom interwoven with modern science, to support women’s long-term health and vitality. Delivered by birth and postpartum doula Rose Ricketson with guest speakers on key topics.

This intensive workshop covers the 5 main principles of postpartum, and is designed by Innate Traditions Postpartum Care.

On this day you will; 

  • Gain a full and profound understanding of postpartum needs from the kind of care you can receive, give to yourself, your children, and the mothers in your life to be a part of a maternal health revolution. (These principles are the backbone of community health; the more we centre the care of mothers, the more robust we are as communities.) 

  • Create a personalised postpartum plan

  • Learn strategies for creating stronger community support systems 

  • Learn about our nutritional needs postpartum, including some recipes and meal plans 

  • Discover ways to have fun and engage friends and family in preparing for postpartum

  • Explore blockages to asking for help 

  • Learn bodywork tools you can use on yourself

  • Increase your confidence in knowing how to support your nervous system postpartum for optimal bonding, healing and recovery. 

  • Receive a support package with listed local resources in the ACT and surrounding areas to support postpartum recovery 

You will leave this day retreat with a solid understanding of the physiological needs of the postpartum period and how to thrive in this sacred time of your life. Together we will explore what is going on in the body, mind, heart and nervous system of the mother-baby dyad, and how can we best support it. In order to safeguard ourselves from the common occurrences of postpartum mood disorders, education is key to understanding what we need as postpartum mothers - from our social, nutritional, biological and hormonal need to our physical and needs for optimal healing and restoration from childbirth.

 

This wisdom is invaluable on your journey into motherhood for the 1st or the 5th time.

This is a specific course designed for pregnant couples, with an emphasis on why planning for the postpartum time is fundamental for the health of mothers, their families and communities.

It will go above and beyond what the current narrative is around this time and what it represents. 
 

We will bring a deeper awareness to why it’s so important, touching on the emotional, psychological and fundamental requirements to create a deeper experience of healing, wellness and support. INNATE’s Community Education Series focuses on an in-depth teaching of the 5 Essentials of Postpartum Care. These 5 Essentials of Postpartum Care are found throughout the world’s ancient postpartum traditions AND are deeply rooted in women’s physiologic and psychologic needs postpartum. ​

 

In this way, we bring honor and a layer of completion to our rites of passage into Motherhood and Fatherhood.
